What is Personal Injury Protection Coverage?

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is an auto insurance coverage for medical bills and lost wages that result from injuries in an auto accident.

PIP coverage can range from $2,500 to $10,000. Maryland Law does not require PIP coverage on auto policies, but insurance carriers must offer the option when purchasing insurance. If you elect to waive PIP on your policy, a formal waiver must be signed. PIP coverage is very advantageous when you are injured in an auto accident, and therefore we do not recommend you waive it on your policy.

It is very important to note that there is a one-year statute of limitation on filing a PIP claim. The one-year begins from the date of the auto accident. If you fail to file the PIP claim within the required statute of limitations, you may be ineligible for the PIP benefits.

Once you become a client of The Law Office of Monica Guilarte, we will help you through the intricate process of filing the PIP claim without taking any fees from the PIP recovery.
